The world of Creative Visual Art has a long history of the
creation of important works that are rely on the use of text as part of the
visual message the work conveys. One
good example of an artist who worked this way is Stuart Davis (1892–1964).
There are many others (see some well known examples below).
Text Based Art can take the form of an image that is composed of
all text or partial text or text that enhances what is essentially mostly
non-text, but in which the text plays a very important part in the impact of
the work’s message and power to communicate it.

We, at UPAL summer 2018, will create some Text Based Works of Art. We
will use a mixed medium, assemblage approach (a mixture of drawing, applied
color, collage elements
As a final destination
for our works, we will take digital photos of the works and upload these,
along with our explanations of the works and reflections on what we discovered
through creating them, to a dedicated post on this blog.
